Apparently it occurs naturally in China and on the Korean peninsula, and it's known as the Japanese bitter orange, the Chinese bitter orange or alternatively the hardy orange. It feels really fitting to have come across a fruiting plant that resembles the way that my game works. Of course, the game was originally designed with the natural way that a plant might branch in mind, but even so - a game is necessarily artificial and simplified, and comes nowhere close to the complexity of the natural world. I don't know if games can have spirit plants in the same way that people have spirit animals, but if you can then I think the trifoliate orange might be Fruit's spirit plant...
